Na'a Ma Kai Veve he Uikeni
Well dang, another week down. It's blowing my mind how fast time is
going! This has been a good week though! First off because I got to talk with
my family and my mom. LOVED talking to them. Makes ya realize how fast time
goes and how much I miss everyone!
We have seen a lot of growth in the area this week with a lot of
potential!
We have been meeting a lot with the Ofisa Kolo (City Officer kinda
like a mayor) who was baptized way back when he was 14 and the missionaries
probably didn't even teach him (that happened a lot back in the day) and his
wife who was also baptized way back then. We've been having fakafamilis (FHE's)
with them and their 5 daughters. We are pretty tight with them and have
some good hopes for their family. This week he told us, why don't you guys just
come every Monday and well eat and you guys can teach us.
This week we went again to the little family that I've mentioned
before that we've been teaching. We taught them the commandments hoping that
that would be best to help them grow towards baptism. Lesson went good and at
the end we asked if they've been able to think about our invitation for them,
and she told us that they decided that they won't because her mom got mad at her
for talking with us. Man that kinda got me down for a little bit. We asked if
we could still come over and talk with them and share little messages with her
and she said that was fine. We had fafanga right afterwards and while we were
walking away I was pretty dang down on myself, wondering if I had done
something wrong or if I could have done something better but when we got to our
members house for fafanga, there was this girl there and we asked if she had
talked to missionaries before, she said no, so we asked if we could share a
short lesson with her. We got to teach her the first lesson and leave her with
a Book of Mormon! Man its so true how when one door closes, the Lord will open
up another. Talking about it later with President Makai, he told me that there
will be a day when they will except the invitation, even if it isn't with us
right now. I know that for sure, they are such a nice little family and I'm glad
we will be able to keep trying to help them!
We have been trying to help this couple who is less active but
told me and my comp before that they want to go to the temple and be sealed
someday. One day this week we were at her moms house and she was there too with
her baby. We found out that her baby had been sick the past couple of days and
her mom who was there insisted that we give the baby a blessing. So of course,
we did and then we left and didn't think too much of it. The next day we ran
into her in the street and she started telling us about how after we had given
the blessing, her baby was all better and how grateful she was for it!! We hope
that this little experience will help her and her husband in coming back to the
church, especially because they just barely left it early this year.
AND yesterday we got to meet this kid who goes to the LDS school
here, Saineha, but isn't a member. He even goes to seminary but hasn't been
baptized. We got to teach him yesterday and we found out that this kid is the
MAN. We set up a baptismal date for him the Saturday before the end of the
transfer.

Random fact for the week: The 'Cliffs of Insanity' from The
Princess Bride are here in Tonga. Haven't found them yet though.
